The country’s largest automaker Maruti Suzuki, will soon begin production at its new Gujarat facility. By early 2017, the carmaker will begin prodcution for the Baleno and the Vitara Brezza, thereby easing the waiting period for both the popular models. Additionally, it will also help the carmaker to conveniently transport the cars via waterways.
Maruti Suzuki’s new facility in Gujarat will also help ease pressure on the company’s plant in Haryana. Moreover, it will also help the carmaker in managing production for the upcoming models like Ignis, Baleno RS and the third-gen Swift and meet export requirements. Owing to popularity and increasing waiting period for the Vitara Brezza, the carmaker has increased production to 10,000 units from 8,000 units manufactured earlier. On the other hand, the automaker will also increase Baleno production to 12,000 units monthly from the current 8,000 units mark.
The Indian carmaker’s third party suppliers will also see a rise in production due to their 20 per cent increment in monthly volume. For this purpose, the company is engaging in talks with the suppliers over the same and will ensure that the new Gujarat facility is started as scheduled. Speaking about the upcoming facility, Mr RS Kalsi, executive director, marketing and sales, Maruti Suzuki India, was quoted as saying that the company feels bad and embarrassed as their customers have been waiting for long and now the company will focus on capacity enhancement that will also ease the production lines and enhance production.
