Maruti Suzuki Baleno has found a decent amount of takers in the Indian market within six months of its debut. The made in India hatchback is also sold in international market which has pushed its demand to a considerable number. The upcoming facility in Gujarat is expected to help the company meet up the growing demand for the vehicle in the international markets.
The Maruti Suzuki’s new facility in Gujarat will begin operation in 2017. Currently, the existing Baleno facility is capable of churning out 8,000 units every month, which is sufficient to cater to domestic market where demand in last few months have averaged between 6,000 – 8,000 units every month. But as the vehicle is being exported to international markets, the waiting period was being pushed ahead by a couple of months. With the addition of this new facility, the company will be able to produce more units and bring down the waiting period by a considerable number.
Once the 1.0-litre three-cylinder Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine Baleno variant is launched, the Gujarat facility is expected to further help in delivering more units of this much awaited variant. Under the hood, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno gets a 1.2-litre petrol engine that generates 83bhp of power, while the diesel variant is powered by a 1.3-litre engine that generates 75bhp of power and 190Nm of peak torque. Both the variants are offered in five speed manual transmission, except for optional CVT transmission that is available only in the petrol version.
