Maruti Suzuki’s Vitara Brezza is currently running on a six to nine month waiting period and this is likely to increase due to a temporary halt in production triggered by a fire at Subros, their leading AC supplier. The fire occurred on Sunday evening and has gutted a large part of its production facility.
All the dealer sources we spoke to are stating a lengthy waiting period for all models of the compact SUV. Out of this, the lower-spec models have a waiting period of six months while the top-of-the-line ZDi and ZDi Plus variants have a waiting period of nine months.
This suspension of production is also likely to hit other models which currently have a waiting period of 1-3 months (depending on the dealer and model). Even its premium Nexa chain will be hit as the Baleno already has a waiting period of three months.
Maruti Suzuki had launched the Vitara Brezza for the Indian market on March 8. It is offering the sub four-metre SUV in six different variants with the DDiS200 diesel engine and five-speed manual gearbox as the only power train option.
