The much awaited Vitara Brezza from Maruti Suzuki has finally been launched in India, yesterday, at a starting price tag of Rs 6.99 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi). The Vitara Brezza has been introduced only in diesel engine option for now, while a petrol engine option may be introduced at a later date.
The newly launched Maruti Vitara Brezza is powered by 1.3-litre diesel engine that generates about 90bhp of power and 210Nm of maximum torque. Currently, the vehicle comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, while it is likely that the company may introduce an AMT option at a later date. The Vitara Brezza is offered in six variants - LDi, LDi (O), VDi, VDi (O), ZDi and ZDi+.
Vitara Brezza LDi / LDi (O)
The base variant Vitara Brezza LDi is offered for Rs 6.99 lakh. The vehicle comes loaded with features such as an audio system with Bluetooth, folding rear seat, driver airbag, power steering, front power windows, tilt steering, engine immobilizer, manual AC and power mirrors. While the LDi (O) that is offered at Rs 7.12 lakh additionally offers ABS, EBD, dual front airbag and a front seat belt pre-tensioner with force limiter.
Vitara Brezza VDi / VDi (O)
The next in line, the Vitara Brezza VDi variant priced at Rs 7.62 lakh is offered wheel covers, blackened A-B-C-pillars on floating roof, rear parking sensors, keyless entry and access to boot, all four power windows and roof rails. The variant also features a gear shift indicator and rear parking sensors. The VDi (O) variant on the other hand offered for Rs 7.75 lakh is loaded with features like ABS, EBD, dual front airbags and front seatbelt pre-tensioner with force limiter.
Vitara Brezza ZDi
Keen on more features? The Vitara Brezza ZDi priced at Rs 8.55 lakh offers features like projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights, piano black centre console, dual front airbags, 60:40 split rear seat, driver’s seat height adjust, front fog lamps, faux skid plate located on the front and rear bumpers, ABS with EBD, unique speedometer lights, automatic AC, steering-mounted audio control, rear wiper with washer and rear centre arm rest. The ZDi variant comes with 215/60 R16 tyres that sits on 16-inch alloy wheels.
Vitara Brezza ZDi+
Moving on to top-spec Vitara Brezza ZDi+ that is priced at Rs 9.68 lakh, the vehicle is offered with features like dual-tone exterior paint, push-button start, SmartPlay infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, rain-sensing wipers, front arm rest, automatic headlamps, power folding wing mirrors, cruise control, navigation and reverse parking camera display and cooled glove box.
Until now, the compact SUV segment had just two players the Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300; and the Vitara Brezza is bound to make things more interesting. Of the above mentioned models, we liked the VDi(O) and the ZDi versions. The LDi definitely has an attractive sticker price, but misses out on too many features, the VDi doesn’t get too many either. But if you have a budget constraint, this is the version to opt for – of course with the optional safety features. However, the most value for money is the ZDi trim, it has a nice balance in terms of features and looks, without making it overtly expensive. We would rather settle for this one, than spend another lakh on touch-screen music system and other bits.
