When Maruti Suzuki launched the all-new Vitara Brezza in March of 2016, it became a runaway success. Now after almost 32 months, the sub-four meter SUV has crossed a milestone of 3.57 lakh units sold in the country. In order to cater to the increasing demands, Maruti has bumped up the production of the Vitara Brezza by 10 per cent to 94,000 units for the period of April-October 2018-19 compared to same month last year.
In the period of 2017-18, Maruti Suzuki sold over 1.48 lakh units of Vitara Brezza. And now in the first seven months (April-October) of the fiscal year 2018-19, the carmaker has managed to clock around 95,000 units of the 2017 Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) winner. The Vitara Brezza has also achieved the fastest three lakh sales mark in the SUV segment, doing it in just 28 months. The recently introduced AMT transmission has garnered positive response amongst the customers with demands of around 49 per cent in Mumbai and 39 per cent in Delhi, according to the carmaker.
When it arrived, the Vitara Brezza helped Maruti Suzuki enter the SUV segment, which was almost nonexistent before. Since its launch, the Brezza has consistently remained amongst the top ten selling cars in India, selling an average of more than 12,000 units every month. The high demand of the SUV forced Maruti to commence the production of Vitara Brezza at the Gujarat facility after the Manesar plant last year. This is the third time that there has been an increase in the production capacity of this compact SUV.
Powered by a 1.3-litre DDis four-pot diesel engine, the Vitara Brezza has a power output of 89bhp and 200Nm of torque. Available with a five-speed manual transmission as standard, Maruti also introduced an AMT in May this year. Priced quite competitively and ranging between Rs 7.26 lakhs and Rs 9.70 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi), the Vitara Brezza has remained an undisputed segment leader.
