Maruti Suzuki recently flagged off the ICOTY Drive 2019 in Delhi. The Swift hatchback will begin its journey tomorrow to create a unique GPS art writing S.W.I.F.T across the map of India.
To put things into perspective, ICOTY is Indian Car Of The Year Award, the most prestigious accolade in the Indian automobile industry. The Maruti Suzuki Swift had won it in 2006, 2012 and now has won the title this year too. With this, the Swift emerges as the only car to win it thrice on different occasions. The flag-off event for the ICOTY drive was conducted on 7 February from Maruti Suzuki's corporate office in New Delhi. Tomorrow, the actual road trip will begin and conclude on 21 February in South India.
This is a first-of-its-kind initiative to celebrate Swift’s hat-trick ICOTY win. The drive will cover more than 125 cities and 7,280km over a period of seven days spanning the length and breadth of our country. In the process, the plan is to map this drive which will collectively form S.W.I.F.T vertically on the Indian map. For forming the 'S', the drive is expected to begin in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh and similarly, Jhansi for the 'W', Nagpur in Maharashtra for the 'I', Khammam in Telangana for the 'F' and Ongole in Andhra Pradesh for the 'T'.
Automotive journalists from various publications and members of the ICOTY jury will come together to achieve this feat. We at CarWale will also be participating in this drive and cover the 'I' leg of this journey. Follow our journey of the drive on 18 February on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
