Maruti Suzuki has said that production at its Manesar plant will return to full capacity by the middle of this month. The Manesar plant had been under a lockout for almost one month after the labour riots on July 18, which also damaged the facility.
After the plant re-opened on August 21, Maruti began with producing 150 cars a day and gradually ramped up production. “By the middle of October, normal production will begin from Manesar. At present, production for all models has started,” said S Y Siddiqui, Maruti Suzuki chief operating officer (administration).
The company’s popular models the Swift and the Dzire are produced at the Manesar plant along with the SX4 and A-Star. At present the plant rolls out about 800-1,000 units a day.
