India’s largest carmaker - Maruti Suzuki, has declared that its manufacturing facility in Manesar has churned out more than 25 lakh units of vehicles. This figure was achieved in a span of 7 years and 8 months and the milestone marking car was a Swift Zxi rolling out of the production line.
The facility in Manesar has three plants – A, B and C, with a combined annual capacity of eight lakh units. The facility, spread over 600 acres with a total investment of about Rs 5,100 crore, also houses the diesel engine plant and a suppliers park.
Rajiv Gandhi, executive director (Plants) said, “The Manesar facility achieved the 25 lakh production milestone in 7 years and 8 months. This milestone would be the fastest for any car manufacturing plant in the country.”
He added that the Manesar plant had implemented several ideas from the employees with regards to productivity, cost, quality and safety.
Last month, we also reported that Maruti produced 25 lakh K-Series engines since its introduction in 2008. It seems like the year of milestones for Maruti Suzuki and 25 seems to be their lucky number.
