Maruti Suzuki will soon launch the Ertiga with some mild changes to the exterior, giving it a fresh look. The facelifted model was again spotted on test hinting that the manufacturer is preparing itself for the launch of the vehicle.
We do not expect the Ertiga to get a comprehensive makeover, but a few changes that will set it apart from the current model. The revamped model will get a new chrome slat grille, a revised front bumper with new fog lamp housings. The latest images reveal the new chrome lip accents around the fog lamps that are similar to the ones on the facelifted Swift. The tail lamps might be revised and the Vdi/Vxi and Zdi/Zxi versions might get equipped with electronically foldable OVRMs. The cabin will feature the push-button start system from the Ciaz and the new Swift.
The upcoming Ertiga is expected to employ the same tried-and-tested petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.4-litre petrol engine produces 94bhp of power and 130Nm of torque, and the 1.3-litre Multijet diesel mill churns out 89bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The CNG variant will also be continued to be offered.
The Ertiga has beena best-seller in the compact MPV segment and the minor refresh should help the company attract new buyers. This update is important for Maruti Suzuki especially when the Indian automobile market is stormed by new compact MPVs. Buyers have different options to choose from like the Honda Mobilio, Chevrolet Enjoy, Nissan Evalia etc. Though the revised model of the Ertiga might be priced slightly higher than the current model, with added features the demand of the car is only expected to increase and should help Maruti Suzuki up the sales of the MPV.
