Maruti Suzuki is calling all motoring enthusiasts across India to witness their southern motorsports event ‘Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare' 2014. This event is scheduled to start in Bangalore on August 4 and will go on for a week finally concluding in Goa on August 9.
The Maruti Suzuki Dakshin Dare experience is in its sixth edition and participation is expected to be the largest ever with greater number of teams assembling at the event than last time. There is a lot of expectation from the scooter category which debuted last year for the first time in any cross country rally. The event is open for both men and women who have a keen interest in motorsports. The participants will travel almost 2,000 kilometers through the South India covering regions like Mysore, Shimoga, Chitradurga, Davengere, Bellary, Hospet and Hubli.
The yearly event aims at bringing out the ultimate rallying experience for motoring enthusiasts in the country. All the participants will be tested for endurance in multiple terrains. Prior to the final leg of the rally, the participants and their vehicles will be put under strict scrutiny conditions and security checks. The selected participants will then compete against each other in three categories- Ultimate Car category, Ultimate Bike Category and Endure Category.
Manohar Bhat, Vice President, Marketing, Maruti Suzuki, said, “After successfully running the popular Raid de Himalaya and the Desert Storm motorsport events, Maruti Suzuki looked southward in 2009 for a new motorsport circuit to expand into. The unique possibilities that the landscape in the south offered made Dakshin Dare a real challenge, both for the racers and the organisers. This Dakshin Dare is all about the terrain, weather conditions and road surfaces that are unique to the South India. The monsoon conditions and marshy terrain surely add to the challenge and excitement."
Maruti Suzuki has previously organised some of the world’s toughest motorsport rallies such as Raid-de-Himalaya in North India, Desert Storm in Western India and Dakshin Dare in South India. The manufacturer has seen an active participation from enthusiasts across the country. Events like these have helped them refine their skills, enhance their motoring skills while experiencing the unadulterated joys of rallying.
