Our regular readers would have read about the Suzuki YRA hatchback spy images report. While those were stories based on the car spotted testing abroad, a source claims to have spotted the car testing in India.
The cars on test abroad were heavily camouflaged, but the new spy shots reveal the front end of the car. It gets a smiling grille with chrome outline, the front bumper seems to be large, and there are Daytime Running Lights too. The front end looks very similar to the Swift and some might even believe this could be the successor to the popular car. However, the sweptback headlamps are thinner in comparison to the Swift. The car seems to be a low or a mid-variant with steel rims painted in black.
The car will be powered by the same 1.2-litre and a 1.4-litre K-series petrol engine and the 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel motor with a VGT with an output of 89bhp. Expect these engines to be mated to a five-speed manual gearbox powering the front wheels.
There are rumours that the car will be called the Baleno in international markets. But, we expect it to be named something else in India, as the Baleno didn’t do well here. If rumours are to be true, the new product might make its market debut by 2016 hinting at an unveiling at the 2016 Auto Expo. This new hatchback might be the B+ segment model which is internally codenamed as the YRA.
