- The new XL6 is a six-seater cross version of the Ertiga MPV
- Will retail through Nexa dealership when launched.
Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for the official reveal of the new XL6 in India which is set to take place on 21 August. However, ahead of that, here is the XL6 before you are supposed to see it courtesy of a leaked image.
Based on the Ertiga, the XL6 is a six-seater cross version of the MPV. However, there is a whole new fascia with full LED headlamp units flanking a redesigned grille. The headlamp cluster gets a strip of LED which appears to be connected by the twin chrome louvres running across the blacked-out grille. On the front bumpers, the prominent cladding extends over the fog lamps and it also gets a contrasting bash plate beneath the larger air intake.
The multi-spoke alloy wheels seen in the image is carried over from the standard MPV. However, the D-pillar, although it still has the floating design, seems to have undergone some changes to distinguish it from the standard car. In profile, there are black claddings around the wheel arches along with roof rails finished in contrasting silver. Interestingly, the ORVM gets a black finish but the door handles are done in chrome. Since it is based on the Ertiga dimensions of the XL6 will remain more or less unchanged.
On the inside, the XL6 has two captain seats in the middle row, as seen in the previous teaser. The cabin is finished in black with contrasting highlights seen all around. The wooden inserts running across the dashboard on the standard car is also replaced with a different material. In terms of features, the XL6 will come with all the bells and features offered with the Ertiga.
In terms of powertrain, we expect the XL6 to come with a 1.5-litre K15B four-cylinder petrol engine at the launch. It might also get a choice of either the five-speed manual or a four-speed torque converter automatic transmission. A diesel option is likely to be added at a later date.
Since it will be sold through the Nexa outlet, the XL6 will reportedly be offered in two higher-spec variants only – Zeta and Alpha. We expect it to be priced between Rs 9.50-10.50 lakhs (ex-showroom).
