- The 2018 Vitara Brezza will get added safety features as standard.
- New paint schemes will also be a part of the update.
- Mechanically, the compact crossover will remain unchanged.
Since its launch in 2016, the Vitara Brezza had a monthly sales average of more than 10,000. The 2017 Indian Car of the Year winner will now soon get an update with additional safety features as standard. Although the powertrain will remain unchanged, we expect to see different body colours and slight cosmetic changes with the update.
The Vitara Brezza will get ABS and dual airbags as a standard fitment right from the entry-level LDi/VDi trim. This means the optional trim of these base variants (LDI (O) and VDI (O)) will be discontinued. The cosmetic tweaks will include additional chrome trims on the grill and boot. And the alloy wheels will get a sporty multi-spoke black styling as an attractive substitute to the grey ones offered on the current car. The paint scheme will get additional ‘dark orange’ or ‘blood red’ options as well.
The added safety features will result in a slight hike in the prices of the compact crossover. According to reports, the prices will rise by Rs 12,500, Rs. 8,500 and Rs. 5,500 for the LDi, VDi and ZDi variants respectively. With these minor updates, the Vitara Brezza remains fresh in the segment and becomes on par with its rivals which were already offering these features as standard.
However, the compact crossover still misses out on the automatic transmission which is offered in all the other adversaries such as the Ford EcoSport, Honda WR-V and Tata Nexon. There is no petrol powertrain on offer either. And Maruti Suzuki has no plans of offering a petrol automatic Vitara Brezza anytime soon.
