Maruti Suzuki has started accepting bookings for the WagonR AMT at Rs 10,000. The car has reached the dealer stockyards and will be launched soon.
There are not many cosmetic changes to the AMT avatar of the WagonR, apart from the AMT badging at the rear. However, Maruti Suzuki is expected to equip the lower variants of the car with the optional safety package.
The WagonR AMT will continue to be powered by the same 1.0-litre K-Series petrol engine that produces 67.04bhp of power and 90Nm torque. The standard model will continue to be equipped with the five-speed manual transmission. However, the AMT model will get Magneti Marelli's five-speed AMT gearbox.
At present, Maruti Suzuki offers the automated manual transmission technology (AMT) only in the Celerio and Alto K10. The sales of these AMT models contribute to about 25 per cent of the total sales of the models put together. The new WagonR AMT will also add to the sales of the successful hatchback with its introduction in this festive season.
