Suzuki launched the Wagon R variants with the highly publicised AMT gearbox in the Indonesian market, last week. Now, we can confirm that Maruti Suzuki will be introducing new variants of the Wagon R and the Stingray equipped with the AMT gearbox in the Indian market too, thanks to the latest spy pictures from GaadiWaadi.
The spy shots show the Wagon R and Stingray sporting ‘Auto Gear Shift’ badges on the tailgate. The AMT variants of the Wagon R and Stingray are powered by the same 1.0-litre K-Series engine, which produces 67bhp and 90Nm of torque. The automated manual transmission has been sourced from the Italian automotive component manufacturer – Magneti Marelli and is a five-speed unit.
In Indonesia, the AMT variants of the Wagon R are Rs 40,000 more expensive than the regular manual variants and we can expect a similar bump in price of the Wagon R and Stingray AMT variants sold in India. Like for the Celerio, we can expect the AMT to be available throughout the entire line-up.
