Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming YBA compact SUV has been spotted undergoing trials once again. Rumoured to be christened Vitara Brezza, this car will mark Maruti Suzuki’s first product in the lucrative compact SUV segment which has been witnessing a rapid growth since the past couple of years.
Though the test mule was heavily camouflaged, we can make out influences of the Suzuki iV-4 concept’s design in the Vitara Brezza. The front of the car features a wide chrome grille flanked by Vitara-styled headlamps, which integrate LED DRLs. The Vitara Brezza will be a sub-four metre product, just like the Ford EcoSport, which should help the Delhi-based manufacturer price it competitively in the Indian market.
The Vitara Brezza will be powered by the 1.4-litre K-Series K14B petrol mill and the 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel engine. Transmission options are expected to include an automatic gearbox too, along with the standard five-speed manual unit.
We can expect Maruti Suzuki to debut the Vitara Brezza at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo. While the EcoSport will be the Vitara Brezza’s main rival, it will also compete with other crossovers like the Renault Duster and the upcoming Hyundai iX-25.
