Maruti has confirmed that the Vitara Brezza SUV has received over 20,000 bookings within the first two weeks of the launch. The deliveries of the compact SUV are scheduled to begin this week, starting March 25.
The Vitara Brezza is a sub-four metre SUV, competing against the Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra TUV300. Maruti launched the SUV with a very competitive price of Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-Delhi), which forced Ford to drop the prices of the EcoSport by almost Rs 1.2 lakh. It is available only with the diesel engine – the 1.3-litre four-cylinder unit producing 89bhp and 200Nm of torque. The SUV has garnered enough attention after the Auto Expo unveiling and is deemed to become one of the best sellers in the Maruti Suzuki lineup.
Speaking on attaining the milestone, R S Kalsi, Executive Director (marketing & sales) said, "We are delighted at customers' response to Vitara Brezza. They have appreciated it for its sporty and muscular design and the combination of features offered at multiple trim levels. Our endeavour now is to deliver these cars quickly so that customers can enjoy their Vitara Brezza."
