Maruti Suzuki has launched the much-anticipated Vitara Brezza for the Indian market at Rs 6.99 (ex-showroom Delhi) lakh. The compact SUV is a Ford EcoSport rival that will also compete with the Mahindra TUV300.
The Vitara Brezza is completely developed in India and 98 per cent of the parts are produced in our country. Up front it is a bold new hexagonal grille embellished with a broad chrome line. The sporty stance is further accentuated by the aggressive 'bull-horn' shaped DRLs and projector headlamps. The car rides on 16-inch alloy wheels and features skid plates and a body cladding for a sporty look. The car is offered in nine colours with personalisation options like Glamour, Urban, Sporty. The exterior appearance can be tweaked with a dual-tone colour scheme to add to the appeal.
The cabin of the five-seater SUV is similar to the other Maruti Suzuki cars. It features keyless entry, steering mounted controls, automatic climate control, smartplay infotainment system with navigation, rear parking camera with sensors, Bluetooth, AM/FM, and an MP3 player.
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is powered by a 1.3-litre, four-cylinder, DDIS diesel mill that churns out 89bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission. With a kerb weight of 1,170-1,195kg and gross vehicle weight of 1,680kg, the Brezza's ARAI-certified fuel economy is rated at 24.3kmpl.
With the launch of the Vitara Brezza, Maruti Suzuki has made its entry in the premium compact SUV segment. The compact SUV will also be exported to Asia, Africa and Latin America. In the Indian market, it will be offered in six trim levels – LDi, LDi(O), VDi, VDi(O), ZDi and ZDi+.
