Maruti Suzuki India had showcased their new compact SUV, the Vitara Brezza, at the Auto Expo held in Delhi last month. The sub-four metre SUV will be launched on March 8 in Mumbai.
Built on the Swift platform, the compact crossover SUV has its looks inspired from its elder sibling the Suzuki Vitara. Unlike the S-Cross, the Vitara Brezza looks like an SUV with the boxy design and a decked up front fascia. Inside, the Vitara Brezza gets equipment to match the prevalent standards of a B-segment car including the climate control and touch-screen music system.
Under the hood, you have the 1.3-litre turbocharged diesel engine developing 90bhp from the Ciaz performing its duties. It will get a five-speed manual gearbox with a front-engine front-wheel-drive setup. What would be interesting though is to see when the Vitara Brezza gets a petrol mill owing to the reducing difference between the prices of petrol and diesel.
The Vitara Brezza will extend Maruti’s SUV portfolio and compete against the likes of the Ford Ecosport and the Mahindra TUV300 and should be priced below Rs 8-lakh ex-showroom, Delhi.
