Launched in March 2016, the Vitara Brezza proved to be a runaway success for Maruti Suzuki. In less than a year, the compact SUV has garnered around two lakh bookings in India.
Selling an average of more than 8,000 vehicles in the period between March and December, the Vitara Brezza helped Maruti Suzuki foray into the compact UV segment in India. It sold more than 85,000 units in that period and still has a waiting of around four to five months which even extends to seven months depending on the variants. Owing to the increasing waiting period for the Vitara Brezza, the carmaker also has increased the production to 10,000 units from previous 8,000 units in August.
It is powered by a 1.3-litre DDis four-cylinder diesel engine with a power output of 88bhp and 200Nm of torque. A five-speed manual transmission is current transmission option but an AMT is also on the cards. The compact SUV is priced in the range of Rs 7.19 lakh and Rs 9.66 lakh (ex-Showroom Delhi). The Vitara Brezza has also bagged the 2017 Indian Car of the Year (ICOTY) award.
