Maruti Suzuki has showcased the concept Ignis at the Auto Expo 2016 in Delhi. The concept Ignis was first showcased as the Suzuki iM-4 concept at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and later unveiled at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.
The Maruti Suzuki Ignis is a smart compact urban concept vehicle built on a new-generation platform. It is dynamic, appealing and the design is bold and unconventional. It has high ground clearance, providing drivers with a sense of confidence even on rough roads. Maruti believes the Ignis is set to create waves among India’s fast maturing compact car segment.
Dramatic features such as the front fascia with its sunglass-clad look, the shell-like roof, and the attractive slits on the C-pillar accentuate the visual drama of this vehicle. Maruti’s Ignis should get the 1.2-litre K-Series petrol engine and the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine with a 5-speed manual gearbox. While the petrol engine makes 83bhp with 115Nm of torque, and 74bhp with 190Nm of torque for the diesel version in the Swift, the figures may vary slightly in the Ignis. It may also get an optional automatic gearbox.
