Maruti Suzuki will not be producing any petrol cars tomorrow at their Gurgaon plant. The production will be suspended to keep check on the piling inventory – the company is sitting on 1-1.5 month of unsold inventory.
The company management has asked its workers not to come to work tomorrow and the plant will also remain shut on Sunday as it is the weekly-off. The Gurgaon plant manufactures around 1500 to 1800 cars per day. The Alto and the Wagon R are the major cars that are manufactured in Gurgaon plant. The company might take the decision to halt producing petrol cars for more days, if the sales continue to fall.
Maruti Suzuki’s sales dropped nine per cent last month. The company sold 97,955 units in February 2013 compared to 1, 07,653 units in the same month last year.
