Maruti Suzuki has announced that it will hike the price of all its vehicles by up to Rs 20,000 from January 2013. MSIL has attributed the hike to increasing pressure on its margins due to fluctuations in the currency rate.
"There will be a hike in the prices of our products. Quantum will vary depending on models, but it can be up to Rs 20, 000," said chief operating officer (marketing & sales) Mayank Pareek.
MSIL joins Toyota and Audi who are increasing their prices from January for similar reasons. Reports suggest Volkswagen and Honda are also contemplating increasing their prices due to weakening value of the Rupee and increase in the cost of inputs.
