The SX4 S-Cross will be the latest offering from Maruti Suzuki when it will be launched in India a couple of months from now. A test mule of the car was spotted testing again in North India.
The SX4 S-Cross is sold as a replacement to the SX4 hatchback in the European market. The camouflaged vehicle seen in these pictures is slightly different from the international model of the S-Cross. The host of changes for the Indian market will include a three piece horizontal slat chrome grille, projector headlamps, DRLs, fog lamps and new tail lamps. The interior of the crossover is expected to be in line with the facelifted Swift and Ciaz. The top-end variant is expected to feature push-button start, OVRM integrated blinkers and larger alloy wheels.
Coming to the powertrain, the Suzuki SX4 S-Cross available in the European market is powered by the 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines. The diesel variant for the Indian market might be powered by a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 120bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. The petrol model will come powered by a 1.6-litre engine that churns out 120bhp of power and 160Nm of torque and the transmission systems might include the five-speed manual transmission or a CVT gearbox.
The S-Cross crossover debuted at the Indian Auto Expo in February 2014 and Maruti Suzuki now seems to be in its final stages of testing the car. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 12-15 lakh and will rival the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and even the Mahindra XUV 500 in the mid-size crossover segment.
