Maruti Suzuki has updated the Swift with a BS-VI compliant petrol engine. Additionally, the Maruti Suzuki Swift also gets a standard set of safety features across the range. To comply with the new safety norms (AIS-145), the Swift now gets seatbelt reminder, speed alert system and rear parking sensors as standard.
All this has resulted in an increase in its prices, and the Swift is now priced between Rs 5.14 lakhs to Rs 8.89 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). While the prices for petrol models have gone up by up to Rs 12,000-16,000, diesel variants are dearer by up to Rs 6,000.
Similar to the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, the Swift now gets a BS-VI compliant 1.2-litre K12B petrol motor. The power and mileage figures remain unchanged, which means the Swift continues to deliver 22kmpl in the manual as well as automatic (AMT) guise. That said, the 1.3-litre diesel motor isn’t updated to BS-Vi standards, and will be discontinued towards the end of this year.
