The Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire facelift has been snapped for the first time, without any camouflage. The Swift Dzire is the top-selling sub-four metre sedan in the country and will be updated along the lines of the Swift facelift. The new Swift, which made its debut in the European and Japanese markets last year, is expected to be launched in India by July.
Spy shots show that the front of the car gets a healthy dose of chrome, which covers the new grille as well as the bigger fog lamp housings. The front bumper has been redesigned and the headlamps are now smoked, while the rear seems to be unchanged. The Swift Dzire facelift is expected to get revised interiors, a new stop/start button and new upholstery options.
The Swift Dzire facelift will continue to be based on the Swift hatchback’s platform and will retain the engine line-up. The car gets two engine options, a 1.2 litre K-Series VVT petrol engine producing 85bhp and 114Nm of torque and a 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel engine producing 74bhp and 190Nm of torque. The Swift Dzire is currently available with two gearbox options – a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic, though we expect the facelifted car to replace the latter one with the new AMT (automated manual transmission) unit.
The second generation Dzire was launched back in 2010 and is long due for an update. Looking at the spy shots though, Maruti Suzuki seems to have taken a ‘why fix it, when it ain’t broken’ approach as the changes to the new car seem to be minimal. The spied car is the mid-range VXi variant, which gets a limited equipment list. The top-end ZXi is expected to be loaded with extra goodies like DRLs, new alloy wheels and other creature comforts. The Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire facelift will go up against other sub-four metre sedans like the Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and the upcoming Tata Zest.
