The facelifted version of the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire has been snapped yet again with very little camouflage. The vehicle, which is the top-selling sub-four metre sedan in the country, will be updated along the lines of the Swift facelift.
Spy pictures show a subtly camouflaged test mule featuring what looks like a new grille design as well new fog lamp housings. At the side, the vehicle now gets a new pair of alloy wheels. Like the hatchback, the Swift Dzire facelift is expected to get a revised interior including a new stop/start button and new upholstery options.
The facelifted Swift Dzire will continue to be based on the hatchback’s platform and will retain the engine line-up. The car gets two engine options, a 1.2-litre K-Series VVT petrol engine producing 85bhp of power and 114Nm of torque and a 1.3-litre MultiJet diesel engine producing 74bhp of power and 190Nm of torque.
The Swift Dzire is currently available with two gearbox options – a five-speed manual and a four-speed automatic, though we expect the facelifted car to replace the latter with the an AMT (automated manual transmission) unit.
Launched back in 2010, the current generation Swift Dzire is long due for an update. Looking at the spy pictures, Maruti Suzuki seems to have taken a ‘why fix it, when it ain’t broken’ approach as the changes to the new car seem to be minimal. Nevertheless, this facelifted version will go up against other sub-four metre sedans like the Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and the Tata Zest when it goes on sale later this year.
