After three action packed days, team AISSMS from Pune bagged the first position in the 1st Maruti SuzukiSupra SAEINDIA 2011 competition. Team Pegasus from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore and SPCE Racing of Sardar Patel College from New Delhi bagged the second and third position respectively. In a closely fought competition, after a rigorous evaluation 33 of the 38 teams could reach the ‘endurance event on the final day. Veteran automobile experts’ shortlisted 33 teams on parameters like safety, robustness, design, cost, performance and marketability at Madras Motorsports Club, Sriperumbudur today. The awards were presented by Mr. IV Rao, Managing Executive Officer, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Dr. V. Sumantran, Executive Vice Chairman, Hinduja Automotive Limited and Chairman, Steering Committee, SAEINDIA, Mr. R. Dayal, President, Steering Committee, SAEINDIA and Mr. Arvind Pangaonkar, Advisor, R&D, TVS Motor Co & Trustee, Madras Motor Sports Trust.
Complimenting the participants on the occasion, Mr. IV Rao, Managing Executive Officer (Engineering), Maruti Suzuki India said, “Maruti Suzuki’s association with SUPRA SAEINDIA is in line with our broader vision to build R&D capability in India. Many amongst the participants will get an opportunities to design global models, cutting edge powertrain and transmission systems.”
