Maruti Suzuki has released its first teaser image for the S-Presso ahead of its official launch in India on September 30. This is a new micro-SUV from the Indo-Japanese automaker and will take a slot alongside the Celerio in the Maruti Suzuki hierarchy.
The teaser image reveals the boxy pseudo SUV design as well as elements like the grille, headlamps and the shape of the front bumpers. However, the car has already been spotted sans camouflage on multiple occasions revealing most of the car’s exterior design.
The S-Presso will be offered with a 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine producing 67bhp/90Nm and can be had with either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT. The S-Presso will be offered in nine variants when launched.
The automaker has said that the name S-Presso was inspired from the universally favourite coffee drink – Espresso, which stands out for it’s strong, robust and bold characteristics.
Commenting on the name and teaser image reveal, C.V Raman, senior executive director (engineering), Maruti Suzuki India said, “Maruti Suzuki has always developed new segments and cars to match the changing needs, tastes and lifestyles of our customers. Designed in-house by Maruti Suzuki, S-PRESSO marks a big shift in the way compact cars are created and crafted in India. Its design language is inspired from our line-up of SUVs and the modern user’s lifestyle. The Mini SUV S-PRESSO is testimony of Maruti Suzuki’s journey to deliver designs, technology and experiences that are ahead of their time, taking consumers on a drive into the future.”
