The country’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has added a new feather on its hat with sales of over three-lakh Auto Gear Shift (AGS) units. The company currently offers AGS in seven variants such as the Alto K10, WagonR, Celerio, Swift, Ignis, Dzire and the recently added Vitara Brezza. Maruti Suzuki claims that due to the addition of AGS variant, the company’s sales have tripled since it was first introduced in 2014.
The company claims that currently, 43 per cent of Celerio sales are of AGS variant, while the AGS variant in the Ignis and the Dzire accounts for 28 per cent and 17 per cent, respectively. Owing to its strong sales, the company expects to sell over two-lakh units in current fiscal 2018-19. Speaking on the occasion, R S Kalsi, Senior Executive Director (Marketing and Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “At Maruti Suzuki, we believe in providing our customers with the best of technology and convenience. The revolutionary Auto Gear Shift technology is one such innovation that offers comfort and ease of driving to the customers with no compromise on fuel efficiency. It has achieved wide acceptance among customers. Crossing 3-lakh retail sales mark within five years of its introduction is a reflection of the success and consent of the customers for the two-pedal technology. With enhanced awareness and deeper penetration, we aim to sell over 200,000 cars with AGS in 2018-19.”
