India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, has dispatched 1,35,948 cars in the domestic market in the month of October 2018. The sales have stayed almost flat with the sales barely crossing over the 1,35,128 cars dispatched in October. On the other hand, when compared to the 1,51,512 car sold in September earlier this year, the sales have dipped by almost 10 per cent despite the onset of the festive season.
The sales of the hatchbacks and the sedan segments have taken a hit in October as compared to the previous month as even Dussehra turned out to be rather cold in terms of bookings and sales as the rising fuel prices dampened the spirits. The exports in October dipped as compared to the previous year.
With the fuel prices having dipped, the demand is expected to rise again and should drive the sales up in November. The new-gen Ertiga is also slated for launch on 21 November and should be able to drive the sales numbers towards the end of the calendar year.
