Maruti Suzuki has announced a hike of 13.8 per cent in sales numbers for May 2015. The company sold 1,14,825 units last month in comparison to 1,00,925 cars sold in the same month last year.
The domestic sales also showed a 13 per cent rise with 1,02,359 delivered to Indian customers in Mayas they sold 90,560 units in May 2015. The company exported 12,466 units as against 10,365 units last year, showing a boost of 20.3 per cent.
The sales of the compact segment comprising Swift, Ritz, Celerio, Dzire accounted for a major chunk of sales. However, these numbers are less by 5.7 per cent with only 41,926 units being sold this May. The company had sold 44,455 units in May last year.
Sales of the mini segment cars which include the Alto and WagonR rose by 20.6 per cent to 35,062 units in May this year as against 29,068 units in the same month a year ago. The Dzire Tour sedan also added to the good sales numbers with 3,190 units sold as against 892 units in May 2014. This shows a 257.6 per cent increase in sales.
The sales numbers of the mid-sized segment of cars shot up by 4042.1 per cent due to the addition of the Ciaz sedan. Along with the SX4 sedan the figures climbed to 5,012 units in May as against 121 units in the same month last year. The sales of the Gypsy, Grand Vitara and Ertiga, which comprise the utility segment of vehicles rose by six per cent at 5,567 units in May this year from 5,253 units in the corresponding month last year. Sales of vans, Omni and Eeco, increased by 7.7 per cent to 11,602 units in May this year as compared to 10,771 units in the same period last year.
Maruti Suzuki has always had a good performance in comparison to other manufacturers with its cars enjoying a good demand in the Indian car market. The company has achieved record bookings in the past and continues to add to the company's sales numbers. They will soon introduce the S-Cross SX4 crossover that is much awaited in the Indian market.
