Maruti Suzuki saw a 9.84 per cent hike in sales during the month of September. The company sold 93, 998 units last month as compared to 85,565 units in the corresponding period last year. The hike is sales is very encouraging for the automotive industry, as it comes within couple of months of the labour riots that took place at the Mansear plant where the very popular Swift and Dzire are built.
The Indo-Japanese small car maker also recorded a 12.6 per cent growth in domestic sales after selling 88,801cars as compared to 78,816 units in September 2011. However, Maruti Suzuki registered a 23.1 per cent drop in exports with 5187 units being shipped out as compared to 6749 units in the corresponding period last year. It sold 68,957 passenger cars in the domestic market as compared 66, 667 units in September 2011, resulting in a hike of 3.43 per cent.
