Maruti Suzuki will launch the S-Cross for the Indian market on August 5. The manufacturer recently started bookings of the crossover for Rs 11,000.
Based on the SX4 hatchback, which was never introduced to the Indian market, the S-Cross has replaced the hatchback in some European markets and Maruti Suzuki will launch the crossover in India next month. The India-spec model will be similar to the global model, but will get some revisions to the design and a few mechanical changes. The car’s interior gets an all-black treatment with some silver inserts and shares the equipment list from the Ciaz.
For the Indian market, the S-Cross will be offered only in the diesel variant and there will be no petro. The conventional 1.3-litre multi jet diesel motor produces 90bhp of power and 200Nm and comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. There is another variant which has a 1.6-litre multi jet unit under its hood. This powerplant churns out 120bhp of power and 320Nm of torque and comes matched to a six-speed manual transmission.
The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross will be sold through the company's upcoming exclusive showrooms in India called the Nexa. The company has also launched a microsite for the crossover. Check out our first impressions in the link posted below.
