The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross SX4 has been spotted in its production-ready guise, at the company’s facility in Manesar. These are one of the most detailed spy shots of the S-Cross SX4 taken in India, and show the crossover adorning a ‘1.6’ badge on the bootlid.
The S-Cross SX4 looks very similar to the SX4 sedan, though the enlarged proportions along with bash plates and side claddings give it an imposing look. The front of the car gets a prominent chrome grille with three slats and elongated headlamps with DRLs. The petrol variants of the S -Cross SX4 will be powered by a four-pot 1.6-litre engine churning out 118bhp and 156Nm of torque. Earlier reports indicated that Maruti Suzuki is planning to source the diesel mill for the SX4 S-Cross from Peugeot, though there isn’t any official word yet.
Reports suggest that Maruti Suzuki is planning to rechristen the crossover as ‘A-Cross’ for the Indian market, though the spy shots clearly show the car wearing the ‘S-Cross’ badge. Either way, Maruti Suzuki’s contender in the lucrative crossover segment is sure to give other established cars like the Renault Duster, Ford EcoSport, Nissan Terrano as well as the upcoming Hyundai ix25 some tough competition.
