Maruti Suzuki’s latest product for the Indian market – the S-Cross, could be launched in the first week of August. According to a report by Indian Autos Blog, Mr R.S. Kalsi, Executive Director, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki, hinted at the launch schedule for the compact crossover.
The S-Cross, as we know, will be sold exclusively via Maruti’s new line of NEXA dealerships. Currently under development, these new dealerships will house the S-Cross for now and then the new high-end products in the pipeline.
Maruti is offering the S-cross in diesel only with two engine options, the traditional 1.3 variable geometry multijet engine that develops 90bhp of power and the brand new 1.6 litre multi jet diesel engine that develops 120bhp of power at 3750rpm and 320Nm of torque at 1750rpm.
Inside, the cabin features push-button start, automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers and even illuminated vanity mirrors on both driver and co-driver sun visors. The 2-DIN touch-screen infotainment system is enabled with navigation and is surrounded by hexagonal silver surrounds.
Given that Maruti is projecting it as a premium crossover, we expect the S-Cross to be positioned along the lines of Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano in the compact crossover segment.
