Maruti Suzuki has started accepting the bookings for the S-Cross for the Indian market. The crossover can be booked for Rs 11,000 and deliveries are expected to start soon after its launch in August.
The Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is based on the SX4 hatchback, which is on sale in the European market for a while. The new crossover has already replaced the hatchback in some of the European markets and will mark Maruti’s entry in the crossover segment in India. The India-spec model gets a few mechanical changes and some revisions to the design, but the car is similar to the global model. The S-Cross gets sporty all-black interior with some silver inserts that looks premium though with similar design theme as rest of their cars.
For the Indian market, the S-Cross will be offered only in the diesel drivetrain. The conventional 1.3-litre multi jet diesel motor (90bhp, 200Nm) will be carried over and there is another variant powered by the 1.6-litre multi jet (120bhp, 320Nm) diesel mill. The former engine comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox and the latter comes matched to a six-speed manual transmission.
The manufacturer recently launched a microsite of the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross. The vehicle will be sold through the company's upcoming exclusive showrooms in India called the Nexa. The company says that the S-Cross provides the power and performance of an SUV while also giving the comfort and the premium feel of a sedan. We have tested the car and here is the first drive review of the S-Cross.
