Maruti Suzuki has showcased their much awaited Vitara Brezza, the compact urban SUV at the Auto Expo 2016 in Delhi. As per Maruti, this SUV is expected to be launched in a few weeks.
Maruti’s Vitara Brezza carries a bold stance thanks to the front fascia that gets a bold chrome grille, bumpers with skid plates, ‘bull horn’ shaped LED light guides with projector headlamps and the body cladding. All these elements along with the 198mm ground clearance adds an impressive and contemporary look. The interiors reveal a well laid out dashboard that bears a contemporary instrument cluster, sporty front seats, foldable rear seats and an adequate 328 litres of boot space. This SUV has been conceptualized, designed and developed in India using a Suzuki global platform and engine. Development costs ran to Rs 860 crores and the localization level is pegged at 98 per cent.
Maruti’s Brezza will be powered by the 200 DDiS engine that makes 90bhp along with 200Nm of torque and is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. While customers will initially be offered only the diesel model, the company is also working on a petrol model that will be offered in the future. This SUV meets offset and side impact crash tests that will come into force in India in 2017. Driver airbag is standard, and front passenger airbag and ABS with EBD is offered as an option from the base variant.
Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa said, “Vitara Brezza is true to its category of a compact urban SUV. It is muscular, bold and sporty, with a distinct presence. It offers style and glamour, features and customisation never seen before in SUVs in India.”
