Maruti Suzuki has taken the wraps off its Baleno with a turbocharged petrol engine at the 2016 Auto Expo. The Baleno with the 1-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine christened ‘BoosterJet’ is expected to be launched by the festive season this year.
This concept Baleno RS is a sporty version of the regular Baleno which has been successful in the Indian premium compact segment. The new 1.0 Boosterjet direct injection turbo engine offers an exhilarating drive while the external styling is even more edgy and sporty.
The petrol Baleno is currently powered by the 1.2-litre, K-Series engine that develops 83bhp and 115Nm of torque. A choice of a five-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox is also on offer. Maruti’s 1-litre BoosterJet will use forced induction to produce 110bhp and 170Nm of torque.
The Baleno 1-litre BoosterJet will compete with the Volkswagen Polo GT TSI.
