The country’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki has reportedly witnessed an improvement in wholesales figures as compared to the last year. The company claims the sales in the month of September were 18 to 20 per cent higher than the month of July and August. Moreover, Maruti Suzuki claims that it has witnessed a good number of inquiries and bookings in this festive season.
Every year, there is a considerable spike in car sales during the auspicious Navratri period. This year, Navratri was from 29 September to 8 October, and usually, the sales are higher towards the end of the month. This is one of the factors that has helped the company register a positive sales growth. The company claims to have passed on the cut on corporate tax to the end customer by reducing vehicle prices. Additionally, the promo schemes and special discounts have all contributed to boosting their overall sales numbers.
As revealed by the Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the company expects to witness the same trend in the month of October as well. He further added that the company has already introduced eight BS-VI petrol vehicles which are popular in the mass market segments, including – Baleno, Wagon R (1.2-L), Swift, Dzire, Ertiga, XL6, and the recently launched S-Presso. The smaller diesel engines will not be upgraded to comply with the BS-VI.
Interestingly, it is believed that the company will introduce BS-VI petrol variants for the Vitara Brezza and the S-Cross later this year.
