Maruti Suzuki has re-opened its Manesar plant a month after it witnessed riots that injured 96 persons and claimed one life. As reported by CarWale earlier 500 security personnel, of which 200 have been stationed in the plant and 300 in nearby areas, have been deployed to ensure security and peace.
Under this tight cover 300 permanent workers queued up outside the gates in pouring rain to return to work on Tuesday morning. The Indo-Japanese auto maker has also deployed 100 personnel of its own to add to the security cover.
Speaking on the re-opening, SY Siddiqui, chief operating officer (administration) said the company would run just one shift from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm during which 150 cars would be produced. Gradually the capacity will be ramped up, he added.
