Maruti Suzuki is likely to re-hire around 1000 contract workers whose services were terminated before the Manesar plant re-opened on August 21. The move is an effort by the Indo-Japanese automaker to return to its full output level.
According to reports, after the plant re-opened, MSIL was only able to produce around 80 vehicles a day. Now to ramp up production and return to its original output the company will need more workers, hence the recruitment.
The process of converting them to permanent employees is likely to begin on September 2. The reports added that the company would also consider hiring contract workers from the Gurgaon plant to become permanent staff at Manesar. The Manesar plant had 1528 permanent workers and 1869 contract workers before violence erupted on July 18.
