Maruti Suzuki may launch two new cars for the Indian market within the next one year. These cars will replace their current slowest sellers which are believed to be the Estilo, A-Star and the SX4. While the former duo will replaced by one car (codenamed YL7), the latter will be replaced by the new SX4 that was unveiled at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show last month.
A report from the Livemint suggests that the small car is quite important for the Indo-Japanese automaker as it currently holds a 51 per cent share in the segment and will look it continue its success in the long run. It currently has the Wagon R and the Alto series of cars as its candidates in this segment. The former is soon expected to get a sportier variant called the Stingray.
The SX4 was recently facelifted but we believe that it is a transition model and will be replaced by the all-new 2014 SX4. The car will be launched in the sedan form and most likely in the crossover avatar also. Globally the new SX4 crossover measures in at 4.15 meters and if they can resize the car the same way Ford has done with EcoSport, then it would seem like a good prospect for the growing crossover market in India. The sedan on the other had will allow it to once again compete with vehicles like the Honda City, Renault Scala, Nissan Sunny and the Ford Fiesta.
