Maruti Suzuki is soon expected to launch a special variant of the Dzire sedan called the Regal to compete with the recently launched Honda Amaze. According to reports, the Dzire Regal will be a limited edition and be available only with the petrol engines. It gets some cosmetic upgrades both on the inside and outside and is expected to cost Rs 5.6-lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
The limited edition is expected to gets body coloured foldable OVRMs, rear parking sensors, silver grille. Inside, the changes are expected to include leather upholstery as well as the touch screen audio navigation system that made its debut on the facelifted Maruti Suzuki SX4. It is also believed that the extra trappings will be a fitment at the dealer level as is the case with Swift Star limited edition.
A limited edition could also mean that either the company is looking to clear inventories, which would explain why the special trim is being offered only with petrol variant cars. With a starting price of Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) the Honda Amaze certainly looks like it will certainly give the Maruti Suzuki Dzire a run for its money in the sub four metre sedan segment. But it must also be remembered that the Dzire sells well over 18, 000 units a month and this means that it will take the Honda Amaze quite a while to catch up.
