Maruti Suzuki has launched the Wagon R AMT and the Stingray AMT for the Indian market. Both the cars have been priced at Rs 4.77 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and Rs 4.98 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) respectively.
Maruti Suzuki has equipped the AMT gearbox only on the VXi variants of both the models. In addition to this, driver and co-driver airbags and anti-lock braking system (ABS) will be offered as an option across all variants, including the base variants of the WagonR and Stingray.
This is a very good move by the Gurgaon-based manufacturer. The Indian market responded well to the Celerio and the Alto K10 AMT variants. Now with the WagonR, Maruti Suzuki will be able to cater to wider audience base.
“WagonR is one of the strongest brands in the Indian car market and it has been one of the top five selling cars in the country. WagonR will be the third brand from our portfolio to get the acclaimed Auto Gear Shift technology. By introducing the AGS in a popular car like WagonR, we aim to democratize the AGS technology so that more customers can enjoy the convenience of automatic gear shift without compromising on fuel efficiency and at an attractive price," said R S Kalsi, executive director, marketing & sales, Maruti Suzuki.
