Maruti Suzuki has launched the new Alto K10 starting at Rs 3.06 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The new Alto K10 gets styling as well as mechanical updates in its new avatar. At Rs 3.80 lakh, the Alto K10 is the most inexpensive automatic car to be sold in India.
As a part of its styling upgrades, the Alto K10 now gets new bigger headlamps, a new two-piece grille with a chrome strip at the upper part and a big Suzuki logo. The fog lamps are integrated at the lower half of the new bumper. At the rear, the tail lights, bumper and the chrome strip at the bottom of the boot, is new.
The engine bay of the car is now shorter, the width and height of the car has increased by 1.5cm, all this should contribute to greater space inside the cabin. The new updated cabin now gets a new dashboard, instrument cluster, steering wheel and upholstery.
The car uses the same three-cylinder, 1.0-litre K10 engine producing 67bhp and 90Nm of torque that is commonly found in other Maruti models. It can be brought with either a five-speed manual or a five-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). Maruti has used improved combustion techniques and an ECM remap to make the car more efficient, which at 24.07kmpl (ARAI) has the best in class fuel economy figure.
Maruti has priced the Alto K10 very competitively and the AMT variant gives it an USP over its competitors. It is also the country’s cheapest automatic car and with the Celerio we have seen that there is a market for small automatic cars. This seems like another winner from India’s leading carmaker.
