Maruti Suzuki has launched a special edition of its compact hatchback the A-star. Dubbed the Aktiv, this special edition features mostly cosmetic changes both inside and outside the car and has mostly been done in an attempt to boost sales.
The Aktiv trim includes decals on the sides, roof and the body along with a red finish for the OVRMs, rear spoiler, fog lamp housing and parts of the front bumper. The A and B-pillar have painted in black colour to contrast with paint job and the decals.
Inside, the Japanese automaker has fitted red and white fabrics, steering wheel cover, floor mats, keyless entry system, door sill guards and a rear parcel tray. Underneath the hood, Maruti has retained the 1.0-litre petrol engine which produces 67bhp and 90Nm of torque.
The Aktiv upgrade is available only with the manual and automatic VXi variant at an additional cost of Rs 14, 990 over the price of the standard car. While the company has not specified how many units will be made, it is likely that it has taken the step to also clear old stocks and boost end-of-the-year sales.
