Maruti Suzuki has launched the R Madhavan Signature Edition Wagon R. As the name suggests the car has been endorsed by the South Indian actor R ‘maddy’ Madhavan famous for Hindi movies like 3 idiots and Rang De Basanti. The car features cosmetic changes both inside and outside but remains the same in terms of engine and underpinnings.
The exterior embellishments have been limited to a rear parking sensor, rear spoiler, and signature graphics on the side and rear of which the former includes the actor’s autograph. On the inside, Maruti Suzuki has fitted the car with Art leather seats and steering wheel cover, Bluetooth connectivity, door sill guards and Kenwood Double Din music system with AUX and USB compatibility.
The engine will continue to be the 1.0-litre four cylinder mill that produces 69PS and 90Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. This signature edition is also available with the CNG compatible engine.
The accessories are worth Rs 32,000 but are being offered for Rs 20, 000 with a special offer of 0.5 per cent waiver on the interest rate. It is likely that the special edition is available on the LXi and VXi variants only. With the festival season getting closer, it is likely that Maruti Suzuki has launched the car in a bid to boost sales of its top selling tallboy wagon.
