Maruti Suzuki has silently launched the CNG compatible Ertiga MPV for Rs 6.52 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and has updated the prices on its official website. The Ertiga CNG is available only in the LXi and VXi variants and is priced Rs 52, 000 and Rs 60, 000 more than the standard petrol models respectively.
The Ertiga CNG is powered by the same 1.4-litre petrol mill that sits in the standard car. It produces 93PS and 130Nm of torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox. The CNG unit is an i-GPI (intelligent-gas port injection) system and the fuel supply can be changed via a switch in the vehicle (as is the case in the indo-Japanese automaker’s other CNG compatible vehicles).
The Ertiga CNG joins the Alto 800 CNG, SX4 CNG, Estilo CNG and the Wagon R CNG to increase Maruti Suzuki’s total dual fuel vehicles to five. It is likely that this same vehicle will soon be introduced in Indonesia also where the Ertiga is assembled locally from CKD kits imported from India.
