Maruti Suzuki Ignis has been hot topic of discussion for a while now and post much wait, the vehicle has finally been launched in the Indian market. The Ignis is offered in four trims – Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The new launched model is available in petrol and diesel engine options as well as manual and automatic options taking the number of variants to 11. The base variant (Sigma) is only offered in petrol. Here are few details on what to expect from different variants.
The Sigma (base) variant offers much more than you would expect from the base variant of any entry-level model sold via Maruti Suzuki’s regular dealership network. As the Ignis will be sold via premium Nexa outlets, the base variant gets features like manual AC, electric power windows on the front, cup and bottle holders. As for safety, the vehicle gets ABS with EBD and dual airbags as a standard feature. Additionally, the automaker has also provided ISOFIX mounts for child seats. As for engine configuration, the base variant will only be offered with a 1.2-litre petrol engine which is mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
The Ignis Delta variant gets all the features from the base variant plus wheel caps, 2-DIN infotainment with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, 2 speakers, dual coloured dashboard, electric wing mirrors, security alarm system and 60:40 rear seat split and rear power windows. Potential customers can choose between 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engine option. Moreover, customers can choose between 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox.
Moving a step ahead, we have the Ignis Zeta variant that is more feature loaded and offers start-stop push button system, keyless entry, four speakers, parking sensors for the rear, defogger at the rear along with a wiper and 15-inch alloys. As for the exterior, Maruti Suzuki additionally offers dual-tone colour scheme, chrome accents on grille and fog lamp housing. The second to top variant also gets side sills and plastic cladding for wheel arches. This variant is also available in petrol and diesel with manual and AMT transmission options.
The top-spec Ignis Alpha variant which is offered in petrol and diesel engine option, will only be offered in manual transmission option. In addition to all features in the Zeta variant, the Alpha further offers projector headlamps, LED DRLs, puddle lamp, auto climate-control and height adjustable driver seat. It also offers reverse parking camera, climate control and a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
